Materials

1. MR16 Lamp.

  • Using single-ended quartz halogen string capsule.
  • MR16 lamps are small.
  • Their 2-inch (5-centimeter) diameter allows for great flexibility, especially where luminaries size is an issue because of space constraints or aesthetic concerns.

2. Size

  • MR16 lamps are small.
  • 2-inch (5-centimeter) diameter
  • The ceiling aperture for down light luminaries using an MR16 lamp for example it can be as small as 3 centimeters in diameter.
  • These luminaries are known as pinhole down lights.

3. Transformer.

  • A transformer is needed to reduce the line voltage from 120 or 277 volts to the appropriate level for these lamps.

4. Lumen maintenance.

  • Two lamp components which are the halogen filament capsule within the lamp and the reflector.
  • Excellent because the regenerative halogen cycle that occurs within the filament capsule keeps the bulb wall from blackening.
